    In this course, Dale Hansson<\/b>, an IBCLC specializing in the management and treatment of breastfeeding problems caused by ankyloglossia, guides the learner to understand how to identify and address alterations due to a short frenulum, based on the results of her more than decades-long experience.<\/p>\n

    Note on language<\/h4>\n

    The term ” tongue tie<\/em>“, is the translation of the Greek “ankyloglossia<\/em>” which is used to mean a tongue that is “tied<\/em>“. In most cases, a “tied tongue<\/em>” is due to a “restricted frenulumo<\/em>“. The “frenulum”<\/em> is a normal anatomical structure and is always present (except in some rare genetic variations), but it can display different morphologies and, in some cases, become the cause of restricted tongue movements. The author will describe in depth how the expression “tongue tie<\/em>” is often poorly defined in research and common language, and how a better definition is essential to clarity and the advancement <\/em>of our understanding of the subject.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
